Congratulations! You are beginning your journey to getting a real estate license.
Below are the steps to learn more about the requirements, information about a career in real estate, and how to begin your education.

What are the requirements?

Before you do anything else, take a moment to review the salesperson real estate licensing requirements in Wisconsin. If you’re new to this, the required license education is called “pre-license,” and you’ll see the term “pre-license” throughout our website.

Wisconsin Salesperson License Requirements

We offer only the Salesperson pre-license course in Wisconsin. If you need a different type of license, and/or are unsure of what type of course you need, contact the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). The DSPS is the real estate regulatory agency in Wisconsin.

There are many benefits to obtaining your real estate license, and (like everything else in life) there are some negatives. Review our Real Estate Career Information page to learn more about a career in real estate, and tips on how to succeed.

Choosing a Real Estate Firm
Once you’ve completed your pre-license education and passed the license exam, you may apply for your Wisconsin salesperson license. However, before you can practice real estate, you will need to work for a real estate firm (click here for more details about the requirements). In the meantime, you will want to consider what kind of real estate firm you want to work for. Review our 12-Point Company Checklist to help you find the business model, environment, and culture you’ll best thrive in when looking for real estate firms.
