Continuing Ed Express Account Tutorial

Welcome to your Continuing Ed Express account!

This tutorial will guide you through all the features of your Continuing Ed Express account page. You will learn how to:

  • Take your courses
  • Review your completed courses
  • Access your completion records
  • Review your order history
  • Update your personal information.

At any time when reviewing this tutorial, you can go back to your account by clicking on the purple “My Courses” button located at the top right corner of the website.

If you are not logged into your account, then you will click on the purple “Sign In” button in the top right corner of the website, and sign into your account. The website automatically logs you out after 10 minutes if you are not actively taking an online course.

Account Menu Overview

This is your account Menu. We will frequently refer to the Menu throughout this tutorial. It is located on the left side of your account page. The menu and top navigation icons will not be present while you are taking a course. When you are in your account and not taking an online course, you will always see this Menu.

At the top of the menu options, you will see your name and your unique Continuing Ed Express User ID. If you contact our customer service with questions, it is very helpful if you include your User ID so we can more easily and quickly look up your account. However, if you don’t know it because you’re having trouble logging in, that’s okay, we can look up your account information with your name and email address.

In Progress
Your courses that you have not yet completed will be the first thing you see when you sign into your account. Those courses are in the “In Progress” section. You can click Start to begin a new course, or “Continue” to resume a course you have already started. If you have any In Progress or New courses, there will be a number in orange next to the words In Progress.

Completed
If you need to check your course completion history with Continuing Ed Express, you can click on Completed in the left side navigation. At the top you’ll see tabs for Continuing Ed, Pre-License, and Training courses to view all the completed courses for those course types. If you have any Completed courses, there will be a number next to the word Completed indicating the number of completed courses you have in your account.

Messages
You can send messages to your course instructor or our customer service from the Messages area in your account. If you have received a message from an instructor, a red number will appear in this area indicating how many unread messages you have in your account. In the image example shown above, you’ll see that there are no unread messages in this sample account. You can also send a message to the instructor or customer service when you’re taking an online course. On every online course page there is a purple envelope in the upper right corner. Click on that, and you can send a message to the course instructor or customer service.

Order History
You can review all the receipts for every purchase you’ve made with Continuing Ed Express.

Settings
If you need to update your name, email address, or any other personal information from your account, click on “Settings.” The only thing you cannot update is your license number. You can update your license number prior to taking the course final exam.

We will now explain each menu option in more detail. The images below are examples of what you might see when you log in.

In Progress

When you first log into your account, the default menu is “In Progress.” This is where all courses that you have not yet completed will be located, including courses you have started and new courses. If you have completed all your courses, this page will be blank. However, “In Progress” will still be the default menu option that opens, regardless of if you have courses that are New or In Progress.

Below are details about the top navigation of the courses:

  • Course # - This is the unique number that Continuing Ed Express assigns to a course. It is NOT associated with the course approval number assigned by each state.

  • State – This is the state that course is approved in. Make sure this is the state you are licensed in! If not, then you purchased a course from the wrong state’s course list page. If that happens, please Contact Us.

  • Credits – This shows the number of credits or hours the course is approved for in that specific state. We use Credits and Hours interchangeably. If your state goes by Hours, then the number listed will indicate the number of hours the course is approved for.

  • Title – This is the course title.

  • Expires – If the course is going to expire, or has already expired, you will see an expiration date here. Once that date has passed, you will no longer be able to complete the course.

  • Progress – The percentage indicates how much of the course you have completed. If you have not yet started the course, it will show 0%. If you have completed all the course content, except for the final exam, you will likely see a 98% or 99% in progress.

  • Action – The two options here are “CONTINUE” or “START.” CONTINUE refers to courses you have already started, so you can resume the course where you left off. START will appear for courses you have not yet started. You might also see the words “Course Inactive” next to a course, which will not be a clickable button. If that is the case, then the course has already expired and you will not be able to review the course material. If this happens, review our Refund Policy or Contact Us.

Below are the three course categories. You might have one or all of these categories in your account, depending on what courses you have purchased and what you have not yet completed:

  • Continuing Education – If you have continuing education courses in your account, then this will be the default tab that will open. Continuing Education (also referred to as Continuing Ed or CE), are the courses licensees take to renew their licenses after they obtain their real estate license.

  • Pre-License – These are the courses you will take to get your real estate license. If you do not have any continuing education courses in your account, then this will be the default tab that will open when you login.

  • Training – These courses are not for any credit. For example, if you try the Demo course, it will be included here. This tab will be the default to open when you login only if you do not have any Continuing Education or Prelicense courses in your account.

Completed

The Completed menu option will show all your completed courses. You will see the same tabs as “In Progress” depending on the courses you have completed.

The right side of the Completed area for each course will be a little different. Below are the two right side column items specific to the Completed courses.

Completed On
This shows the date you completed the course.

Action
Click on “Review Course” to review the course content.

If your course has a completion certificate, you will see a link to “Print Certificate.” Not all courses have a completion certificate, so this option shows only if it is required for the course and state. Many state completion certificates have an area for the student to sign. Please do NOT send us your signed completion certificates. The completion certificates are for your records, and if/when you need to provide them to your state, per your state’s requirements.

For Minnesota Prelicense courses, instead of “Print Certificate,” you will see a link for “Exam Proctor Affidavit.” If you are using a proctor outside of Continuing Ed Express, you will click on this link to print your proctor affidavit for you and your proctor to sign after you complete your proctored final exam. More information about proctoring requirements is at the end of each Minnesota Prelicense course.

Some states and course types require us to email you the completion certificate. If so, then you will not be able to print it from your account, and you will not see a link to print a certificate. You will only receive the certificate by email.

If a course has been discontinued then the “Review Course” link will be replaced with “Course Inactive,” which is not a link. You will not be able to review those courses because we do not keep the content updated in discontinued courses.

Messages

In the above account example, there are no unread messages because there is a “0” in the red area. If you do have messages, you would see a number in the red circle, and you would also see a red number in the main navigation alerting you to review your message(s).

All new unread messages will be located in “Unread Messages.” If you and an instructor have been corresponding and replying back and forth with the same message thread, then those will all be organized under “Message Threads.” When you receive a new message from an instructor, you will also receive an email notification to the email address associated with your Continuing Ed Express account.

If you have reviewed all your messages, then you will not see any messages when you first go into the Messages menu. You can review past messages by using the filter options, labeled "Filter by," and date ranges at the top of the menu.

You can send messages to an instructor or customer service from this area. Click the orange “COMPOSE” button at the top right of the menu. After you do that, the page will change to the following:

For “Support Type” select either Customer Service or Instructor. Questions relating to the specific course content will go to the Instructor. All other questions go to Customer Service. If you select Instructor, then you will see another menu to select your course. This is to make sure the message goes to the correct instructor. The instructor will then respond to you in the messages area, and you will receive an email notification to check your account messages. All correspondences with instructors will be in this messages area.

If you select Customer Service, then you will receive a response to the email address that is associated with your Continuing Ed Express account. You can send a message to Customer Service from the Messages area, but the correspondence will be through email.

You can also send a message to the instructor or customer service when you’re taking an online course. On every online course page there is a purple envelope in the upper right corner. Click on that, and you can send a message to the course instructor or customer service.

Order History

You can review your order history and receipts from the Order History menu item. Click “View” under the Action column to view your order receipt.

Below is an example of what an order receipt looks like when you click “View.” This is the same receipt you would have seen after completing the original ordering process for the particular order.

At the bottom of the page you’ll see three buttons:

  • Back to Order History (orange) – Select this to go back to the Orders menu area in your account. From there, you can navigate back to any of the other Menu options.

  • My Courses (purple) – This will take you to the In Progress area of your account so you can begin taking a course.

  • Print Order Receipt (green) – Click on this to print the receipt. It will remove all the website navigation options, and format the page to print just the receipt information.

Refunds
If you receive a refund for a course (or courses), you will see the refund details in the Order History. Below is an image of the same order receipt as above, except in the below example both of the courses have been refunded. See the green circled items showing the refund details.

Settings

You can edit all of your account information from the Settings area. After you have updated an area, select the orange “Update” button to update the items you have modified.

If you’d like to update your password, you will do that separately at the bottom. Once you’ve changed your password, select the orange button “Change” under the “Change Password” area.

There are two items you cannot change in your account: Username and License Number(s).

Username
The username needs to be unique for each account, which is why you cannot change it once you set up your account. However, if you do need to change your username, please Contact Us and we determine if the username you would like to use is not in use. If so, we can change it for you.

License Number
This is in the “Additional Fields” area. If you take courses in multiple states because you are licensed in multiple states, you will see all your state license numbers in this area. Not all states require us to keep records of the license numbers. If you don’t see a number here, you either are not licensed yet and are taking prelicense courses or training courses; or you are taking courses in a state that does not require us to keep a record of your license number.

The only place you add or edit your license number is before you take the course final exam. Make sure the license number is correct before taking the final exam!

Why can you only update a license number before taking a final exam? Great question…the license number required is dependent on the specific course. The registration and account set up process during your course purchase is general information we capture for all customers. Since the license number requirements vary depending on the course type (CE or prelicense) and state, this field needs to be associated with the specific course. Therefore you enter it before taking the course final exam.

If you realize that your license number is not correct after you have already completed the exam, please Contact Us and request that we change your license number. Please send us a message or email from the Contact Us link. Include your User ID from your account, the state you are licensed in, and the correct license number to update in your account. Please include permission for us to change the license number in your account. We are always VERY careful about making ANY updates to a customer’s account, so making your request very clear will help keep the process more efficient.

A note to Minnesota Prelicense students
Before you take your proctored final exam, you will enter the last four digits of your social security number. We are required to obtain this number to submit your prelicense course completions to the Minnesota Department of Commerce’s attendance reporting system, which is Pulse Portal. You will NOT see this number in your account. You will enter it only before taking the course final exam. If you are concerned that you entered it incorrectly, please Contact Us to confirm you entered the number correctly. Please call us, and make sure you speak to a person regarding this. DO NOT leave your number over voicemail, email, or in a message. Always call us with questions about your SSN, and make sure you speak to one of our customer service representatives.

Get Back to Your Account

When you’re ready to begin or resume your course(s), you can go back to your account by clicking on the purple “My Courses” button located at the top right corner of the website.

If you are not logged into your account, then you will click on the purple “Sign In” button in the top right corner of the website, and sign into your account. The website automatically logs you out after 10 minutes if you are not actively taking an online course.
